Bureau of Engraving and Printing: Located in the heart of the Nation's Capital, the BEP's Washington, DC Tour and Visitor Center is a great place to learn all about U.S. paper currency. We saw dollars being printed as we walked along the gallery overlooking the production floor (no photos allowed by law)!
The Monument or rather the Washington Monument: Built to honor George Washington, the United States' first president, the 555-foot marble obelisk towers over Washington, D.C. Unfortunately, the Washington Monument was closed to visitors to allow for modernization of the elevator.
Lincoln Memorial - Savior of the Union: "In this temple, as in the hearts of the people for whom he saved the Union, the memory of Abraham Lincoln is enshrined forever." Beneath these words, the 16th President of the United States sits immortalized in marble as an enduring symbol of unity, strength, and wisdom.
